Jim Zaleski
I work in pen and ink, watercolor and oil and often scan/photograph them in order to rework the images in Photoshop. That said, the end result is a hybridized art form, combining traditional art media with computers.
I normally begin a piece the traditional way, drawing and painting on paper or canvas. I will (on occasion,) scan or photograph the piece and rework it on the computer (Or vise versa,) This method produces some unique fusions of art and technology.
I prefer the minimalist approach, and my subject matter is both broad and eclectic (although figurative pieces dominate my work). I favor abstraction over realism, gesture over detail and spontaneity over planning. As is my nature, my work often includes whimsical themes. While I indulge in such levity, I consider My art a serious study of the human condition (albeit, with tongue in cheek). Enjoy.
